For most Florida small businesses, a professional website should cost between $500 and $2,500 to build, plus $50 to $150 a month if someone hosts and maintains it for you. Anything above that is buying custom design, custom software, or agency overhead, and most local businesses do not need any of the three.
Why quotes are all over the place
Ask five companies for a website quote and you will get numbers from a few hundred dollars to well into five figures. They are not all quoting the same thing. The price is driven by four things: how many pages you need, whether the copy is written for you, whether it is built on a template or from scratch, and how much of the agency's overhead you are paying for.
A local service business needs a home page, a services page or two, an about page, and a way to request a quote. That is a five page site. It does not need a custom design system, a content management platform with a login, or a six week discovery phase.
What you should get at each price
| Price | What it usually is | Who it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Under $300 | A do it yourself builder, a template you fill in yourself, or a very quick freelancer job. Copy is on you. | Someone with time and no budget. |
| $500 to $1,000 | Up to five pages, written for you, mobile first, basic SEO, a lead form, tracking. Built in days. | Almost every local service business. |
| $2,500 to $5,000 | More pages, custom design, sometimes a CRM or booking system attached. | Multi location businesses or ones with a real content plan. |
| $10,000 and up | Custom software, ecommerce, or a large agency's process. | Not a local service business. |
The costs people forget
- Domain name. Usually $10 to $20 a year. Buy it in your own name, not the agency's.
- Hosting and maintenance. $50 to $150 a month is normal if someone keeps the site secure, fast, and updated. Cheap hosting exists, but then updates are on you.
- Copywriting. If the quote does not include writing, the site will sit unfinished for months while you try to write it yourself. Make sure words are included.
- Tracking. Call and form tracking should be part of the build, otherwise you will never know whether the site works.
The question that matters more than price
Ask who owns the site when you stop paying. Some agencies rent you the website: cancel the monthly fee and it disappears. That is the single biggest trap in this industry. A fair deal is simple. You pay once for the build, the site is yours, and the monthly fee is optional and only covers hosting and upkeep.
What we charge and why
Our website build is $500 for up to five pages, written for you, mobile first, optimized for Google and AI search, with a lead form and tracking included. Hosting and care is $49 a month and optional. We can price it that way because the build is fast and we make our living on the systems that sit behind the site, not on the site itself.
